Social Studies Performance Tasks is designed to assist educators in interpreting Jamaica’s National Standards Curriculum for social studies. It contains the prioritized content and concepts aligned to the Expected Learning Outcomes for each unit. The intent of this book is to clarify the essential content and concepts , allowing teachers more flexibility to focus on in the three shifts prescribed in the social studies vision:

1. Use sources to learn content.
2. Make connections among people, events, and ideas across time and place.
3. Express informed claims supported by evidence from sources and outside knowledge.
